Initial investigation showed the driver of a red Audi pressed the acceleration pedal instead of breaking, causing the vehicle to drive into a parking median and land on top of two cars, officials said.

A car became lodged between two other cars Monday morning after hitting a median strip while trying to park at a Roche Brothers supermarket in Wellesley, police said.

Police received multiple 911 calls at about 10:11 a.m. reporting a red Audi crashing into a Chevy Equinox and a BMW X5, the Wellesley Police Department spokesperson said.

The vehicle reportedly accelerated over a parking median strip and became airborne before landing on a parked vehicle. It then fell down between the two cars parked next to each other, police said.

Preliminary investigations showed that the driver of the Audi accelerated instead of breaking while parking the vehicle, causing the car to crash into the median and onto the parked cars.
