‘Oppenheimer’ Has an Eye-Popping Trailer with Stars Cillian Murphy and Emily Blunt

Christopher Nolan’s exciting new movie Oppenheimer has a new trailer with a lot of big names in it. The movie will come out in theaters on July 21.

The main character, J. Robert Oppenheimer, will be played by Peaky Blinders and Inception star Cillian Murphy. Emily Blunt will play his wife, scientist, and botanist Katherine “Kitty” Oppenheimer.

Florence Pugh, who was in Midsummer, will play a therapist named Jean Tatlock. Matt Damon will play General Leslie Groves Jr., who is in charge of the Manhattan Project.

The story will focus on what happens to Murphy’s character as he goes on to play a huge part in making the atomic bomb. Oppenheimer was a theoretical scientist who ran the Los Alamos Laboratory and made the first atomic bomb as part of the Manhattan Project.

In August 1945, these bombs were used to finish World War II by destroying the Japanese cities of Nagasaki and Hiroshima. This was the only conflict in which nuclear weapons were employed.

The film is an adaptation of the Pulitzer Prize–winning book American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer, written by Kai Bird and the late Martin J. Sherwin.
