NORMAN – The Oklahoma men’s tennis team swept Oral Roberts 7-0 Saturday afternoon. 

The Sooners scored the doubles point with wins on each court. Jordan Hasson and Luis Alvarez defeated Gustavo Pinho and Ricardo Filho, 6-2. Alex Martinez and Kholo Montsi came away with a 6-3 win on court one against Eli Brewer and Aaron Brewer, while Hank Trondson and Asahi Harazaki defeated Cayden Cheek and Ryan Holloway, 6-4.

“We worked hard this week, getting better on a lot of things and they came out and did a lot of the things we worked on,” head coach Nick Crowell said. “It’s great to have a lot of matches on the weekends because it’s a lot of chances ot get better.”

Trondson and Mandlik enjoyed strong starts, both opening 5-0.

Mandlik came away with a 6-0 win in the first set against E. Brewer on court three. Mandlik swept court three, 6-0, 6-0 to put the first singles point on the board for the Sooners.

Trondson took a win in the first set against A. Brewer, 6-1. After coming away with another quick lead, Trondson earned the Sooners another singles point after defeating A. Brewer, 6-1, 6-0.

Hasson won his first set against Pinho, 6-1 and finished his match 6-1, 6-3 on court one.

Han started out with a 4-1 lead on court four and won the first set against Cheek, 6-2. The second set started out with a 5-0 lead before Han clinched the match with a 6-2, 6-0 win.

Anselmo picked up another first set win against Holloway, after winning a deuce point to make it 6-3 on court six. He went on to take the win, 6-3, 6-1.

Singles play concluded with a win on court two for Schlageter after he defeated Filho, 6-4, 6-4.
