Ovation TV and Charter Spectrum revealed the winners of their 2024-2025 Stand for the Arts awards, recognizing local arts, cultural and educational organizations and programs. Since the initiative began in 2017, Ovation and Spectrum have given out 80 awards totaling $800,000 toward arts education.
This year, 10 organizations in Spectrum markets will receive $10,000 each. The recipients are:
Buffalo Arts Studio—a two-time Stand For the Arts recipient in Buffalo, NY, that features exhibitions, educational programs, mentorships and public art, while also providing affordable studio space, public exposure, paid opportunities and professional development for visual artists.
Walker County Arts Alliance—offers educational opportunities in visual arts, pottery, music, storytelling, and DreamFit dance for students in the Walker County, Alabama, public schools.
Hawai’i Children’s Theater—a theater in Kauai, HI, that serves more than 300 young people each year, some through the scholarship subsidy and work study programs. Another 10,000 children and families attend HCT performances each year.
Kingsport Theatre Guild—which is celebrating its 77th year as a community theater in Kingsport, TN.
Northern Manhattan Arts Alliance—a non-profit arts service organization whose mission is to cultivate, support and promote the works of artists and arts organizations.
Marcus Performing Arts Center—a fixture in Milwaukee for more than 50 years.
Musicians at Play Foundation—an L.A.-based foundation providing students and teachers access to music education through live performances and mentorship programs in underserved schools.
Kids Excel El Paso—The children at the El Paso, TX, schools served through this arts education model average 90% Minority, 75% Economically Disadvantaged, 59% At-Risk and 47% Limited English Proficient.
Bishop Arts Theatre Center—a Dallas, TX, theater with a mission to engage and cultivate a vibrant arts community by welcoming emerging artists and developing equitable, multigenerational programming for the community.
Marathon Center for the Performing Arts Youth Theater—this Findlay, OH, venue, originally constructed in 1925 as Findlay High School, hosts over 300 events each year.
