People on the scene said they saw cars burning out and people in ski masks flooding the streets. One of those witnesses said they saw as many as nine cars participating.
Street takeovers have been an issue in Charlotte for a while. State lawmakers have passed a street takeover law, allowing officers to seize the cars used, issue fines and charge the drivers.
We’ve reached out to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department for more information about this case.
