PARKERSBURG — Poets and artists will join in sight and sound Saturday at the Parkersburg Arts Center.

In honor of National Poetry Month, the Parkersburg Art Center will hold its second annual Poetry and Art event in the Main Gallery at 6 p.m. Saturday.

A celebration of creativity, 15 local poets and 22 local artists come together to unveil their collaborative masterpieces, organizers said.

Poets submitted verses, which were then chosen by artists who crafted original artworks inspired by the selected poems. The creators will meet at the Art Center to share their work with poetry readings and art presentations.

Poets include Sherrell Wigal, Jane Ann Fuller, Randi Ward, Tracy Love, Kristine Williams, Cathy Lee, Barb McCullough, Sherrell Ward, Renee Williams, Lisa Kirgis, Linda Stonestreet, Sara Golden, Bonnie Proudfoot, Deni Naffzinger and Wendy McVicker.

Artists include Eryn Gray, Allison Ruth, Belinda Armstrong, Virginia Killian, Nathaniel Brown, Jessie Siefert, Margee Bias, Betsy Cook, Tina Allen, Haila Buskirk, Tracy Love, Patty Stewart, Sara Golden, Bonnie Proudfoot, Abby Hayhurst, Sandy Bush, Jessica Carpenter, Amy Strobl, Joan Palmer, Homaira Ahmed, Nicole Harris and Angela O’Curran.

This event is free and open to the public.

Organizers commended the support of West Virginia Central Credit Union and sponsor Farnsworth Law Office.

Snacks and refreshments will be available.

Following the event, the art and poems produced through the collaboration will be displayed in the Art Center Reception Gallery starting in early May. The exhibition is a celebration of the bond between poetry and visual art, organizers said.
