
In a meeting between two teams in the Daily Breeze boys basketball preseason Top 10, ninth-ranked Palos Verdes defeated eighth-ranked Wiseburn Da Vinci 55-40 in Saturday’s final of the Wiseburn Tournament.
Telmo Corral, who had 13 points, six rebounds and four blocks, was the tournament MVP. Alex Hassanein (12 points, six assist) and Will Jorczak (eight points) were all-tournament selections. Max Sinfield scored 12 points.
Wiseburn’s Ahmose Daniels (12 points, 10 rebounds) and Jameson Johnson (11 points, three steals) were all-tournament selections.
North Torrance boys wins San Gabriel Tournament
North defeated edged Camarillo 48-47 in the finals of the Thanksgiving Feast Tournament Saturday.
Elliot Langston (15 points per game, 8.8 rebounds, 4.5 steals) was the tournament MVP and Alton Jimmerson (17 points, 9.8 rebounds) earned all-tournament honors.
St. Bernard and Redondo win in Fresno
The top two teams in the Daily Breeze boys basketball Top 10 were victorious Saturday at the Heart of California Basketball Classic in Fresno.
Redondo defeated Grant 86-38. SJ Madison led the Sea Hawks with 15 points, Chris Sanders had 11 and Devin Ringer, in his season debut, finished with 10.
Tajh Ariza scored 30 points and Kendyl Sanders had 20 lead St. Bernard to 74-61 win over Bullard. Christian Collins had eight points and six rebounds.
Ryse Williams Pac Shores on tap
This Ryse Williams Pac Shores Showcase begins Tuesday at Redondo. The week long event will run Tuesday through Saturday in both both gyms.
The South Bay teams in action during the week: Lawndale, St. Bernard, Redondo, Bishop Montgomery, Leuzinger, Narbonne and Mary Star.
Girls basketball
The Bishop Montgomery and Leuzinger girls basketball teams both went 3-1 in the Platinum Division at the Redondo Battle at the Beach.
The Knights lost their opening game against Sage Hill (48-46), but responded with wins over Lynwood (61-58), Redondo (56-41) and Oak Park (61-47).
The Olympians defeated Chaminade (70-48), Harvard-Westlake (67-49) and North Torrance (63-47). Their loss came against Windward.
North went 2-2, with a pair of two points wins over Westlake (50-48) and Windward (64-62), followed by a two-point loss against Harvard-Weslake (49-47).
