{KXLG – South Dakota} The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in South Dakota has awarded the 2024 Excellence in Cooperative Conservation Award to Pam Geppert of Dakota Farm Talk. This award recognizes her innovative approaches that protect the environment, support the agricultural community, and enhance local economies.

Since 1990, Pam has delivered two-minute radio stories from her Brule County ranch office, keeping South Dakota’s agricultural industry informed on farming, ranching, and technical conservation topics. Her dedication to sharing conservation and agricultural practices has made Dakota Farm Talk an invaluable communications network across the state.

State Conservationist Tony Sunseri praised her efforts, stating, “We thank Pam for her dedication to sharing the story of conservation and mindful agricultural practices. Dakota Farm Talk’s communications network across the state of SD is invaluable, and we appreciate her support.”

The Excellence in Cooperative Conservation Award is decided by NRCS employees who nominate individuals or groups demonstrating outstanding cooperation in conservation of natural resources. This award highlights the winner’s ability to communicate, grow, and remain progressive in preserving the state’s natural resources.

“Pam has the excellent ability to take our agency’s conservation science updates and deliver it concisely for our ag producers and stakeholders,” said Sunseri. “And for that, we appreciate Pam.”
