Park City commissioners convened at city hall to address financial approvals, community updates, and plans for future growth at their recent regular monthly meeting. Park City Mayor Larry Poteet called the meeting to order with commissioners Mike Burgess and Angelo Scavo in attendance.

The first item of note on the agenda was an upcoming increase in cemetery plot rates. Starting January 2025, plot costs will increase from $250 to $350, impacting locations including the city cemetery, the Section Rows, Local Cemetery, and Bell’s Tavern.

The city’s decision stems from a need to stay competitive in an increasingly expensive landscape, as the rates have remained constant for “several years,” Poteet wrote.

In the his report, Poteet announced that the groundbreaking for a new convenience store and amphitheater will take place soon. No definitive date has been set.

The highlight of the session was the unanimous decision to approve a growth partnership with Working Class Entertainment, a group headed by Park City native Vito Tisdale. He hopes to invest in the community and has ideas for growth that range from a school of the arts to an annual music festival, Poteet said.

There is no cost for the city to participate in this partnership.

Commissioner Burgess, providing updates on tourism, shared details about the city’s festive plans. The annual Lighting of the Christmas Tree is scheduled for Dec. 6, followed by the Christmas Parade on Dec. 7, which will begin at 10 a.m.

After around half an hour of discussion the commissioners adjourned.
