FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — A new partnership between Parkview Health and Surgery Partners plans to bring more healthcare facilities to Indiana that aim to reduce costs for employers and patients.
The partnership will attempt to bring more ambulatory surgical centers (ASC) to places outside of Parkview Health’s core service area.
According to Parkview Health, ASCs are standalone facilities that provide outpatient surgery separate from an acute care hospital, and they typically have lower overhead costs that reduce costs for patients.
“This partnership will allow us to serve more Indiana communities with convenient, high-quality care, while also reducing their healthcare costs,” said Dr. Roy Robinson, president of Parkview Heart Institute. “By combining the expertise and experience of both organizations, Parkview can continue to strengthen its commitment to increasing access to care.”
Marissa Brittenham, chief strategy officer with Surgery Partners, said the new partnership will bring the company to the Indiana market.
Both companies also plan to build new ASCs in areas of need.
