PARTYNEXTDOOR Admits His Love Life Is To Blame For Lack Of Music

PARTYNEXTDOOR has released only three studio albums in the past decade, and now he has explained why.

In a Billboard cover story that was published on Monday (March 11), the OVO singer admitted that his personal life often gets in the way of making music.

When explaining the long delay between projects, PARTY said: “I get into relationships and then music becomes second.”

“I think I’m going to take a break from relationships, a long break, and just get back to making music,” he continued.

Later in the piece, he spoke about his previous projects, admitting he hadn’t always handled them with painstaking attention to detail.

“I was still handling that shit like demos,” he said his last two albums. “[I wasn’t] using everything I learned as a producer, as a writer, as an engineer.”

He followed that up by saying that he planned to never “cheat” again on putting effort into his songs.

The results of that vow can be seen and heard on PND’s latest release, a short music video for his 2023 track “Resentment (CCTV).”

Last week, the Canadian singer and producer shared part of a video for the track. The teaser features a range of footage related to law enforcement as well as a number of women having their mugshots taken.

“Y’all don’t even count me, and I hear who they say, ‘Who’s the SoundCloud king?’ It’s undeniable,” PARTYNEXTDOOR said in the social media post.

“Who went from SoundCloud to Diplo?,” he continued, listing his accomplishments. “Who went from the runner-up to who made songs with every single top artist?

“People are chasing that today and they can beat it, they can beat the record, but there’s no one person who went from Kanye [West], Nicki [Minaj], Lil Wayne, Drake — everyone who’s important from SoundCloud. Like it was supposed to be a joke.”
