Pedestrian dies after being hit while getting out of a parked car in Kansas City


The Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department says a pedestrian was hit and killed while getting out of a parked car Saturday morning.Officers were dispatched to investigate a three-vehicle collision Saturday morning near East 41st Street and Prospect Avenue.Investigators said a man had just parked his Buick and exited the vehicle when a driver in a black Chevrolet traveling south on Prospect hit the pedestrian and his vehicle.The Chevrolet then went on to hit a stopped Nissan on Prospect.Police said it appeared as if the driver was attempting to leave the scene when they struck the Nissan. The pedestrian was rushed to an area hospital for treatment, where they were pronounced dead.The driver of the Nisson reported minor injuries but refused medical treatment.The suspect was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.This incident remains under investigation.
