A car hit and killed a pedestrian in Southeast Portland Thursday night, police said.
The crash happened at Southeast Division Street and 135th Avenue at 7:19 p.m., according to the Portland Police Bureau. A police officer “came across” the crash scene immediately after it occurred and called for an ambulance.
The driver of the car remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
This is the 57th traffic fatality in Portland so far this year.
The names of the victim and the driver have not yet been released.
