SALEM — The Peabody Essex Museum is surveying 200 years of American painting and sculpture through an exhibition of 85 American artworks this summer.
“Making History: 200 Years of American Art” from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA) considers what it meant to be an American artist at the time of the nation’s founding and what it means to make art in the United States today. Co-organized by the American Federation of Arts and the PAFA, “Making History” is on view at PEM from June 14 through Sept. 21, a PEM news release indicates.
