‘Percy Jackson & the Olympians’ Concludes Season 1 with a Massive Cliffhanger

The first season of Disney’s much-anticipated Percy Jackson & the Olympians ended Tuesday night, leaving viewers with a contented sigh and a strong desire for more heavenly adventures.

The series followed Percy Jackson, the demigod son of Poseidon (played with magnetic charm by Walker Scobell), as he navigated the turbulent waters of his identity crisis, teenage monster-slaying, and a quest to avert a heavenly war.

Each episode unfolded like a crackling Camp Half-Blood campfire story, full of action, humour, and heartwarming camaraderie between Percy, his satyr best friend Grover (the scene-stealing Aryan Simhadri), and Athena’s cunning daughter Annabeth Chase (a fiercely intelligent Leah Sava Jeffries).

Fans of Rick Riordan’s popular book series praised the show’s adherence to the source material, from the classic Camp Half-Blood setting to the comedic twists of Greek mythology brought to life.

Critics commended the show’s varied ensemble, the astounding visual effects that made mythical animals spring off the screen, and its ability to appeal to both young and older audiences.

The season concluded with a thrilling finale, The Prophecy Comes True, in which Percy confronted the true culprits behind the stolen bolt, formed a hesitant alliance with Ares (Luke Youngblood), and faced a fate-changing decision.

While the episode averted the immediate threat of war, it also laid the groundwork for future conflicts, leaving the door open for a second season.

And, speaking of next season, Olympus has yet to make an official statement. However, given the show’s critical acclaim and record-breaking viewership (the premiere allegedly surpassed 8 million Disney+ homes), a renewal appears as likely as a centaur on a field trip.
