Pete Davidson Faces Charges for Driving Car into Beverly Hills Home

Pete Davidson made a deal with the police in Beverly Hills, California, to get rid of a careless driving charge. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office agreed to let Davidson do community service in New York City to make up for the accident, according to a story in The New York Times. He will work with the New York Fire Department to figure out how to handle the situation.

When Davidson crashed a Mercedes-Benz into a house in Beverly Hills in June, he was charged with misdemeanor careless driving. No one was hurt, and Davidson pleaded not guilty to the charge. At first, he was put on an 18-month program to keep him out of trouble. He had to pay back the money, go to 12 hours of traffic school, and visit a hospital and a grave to see for himself what happens when people drive carelessly. He was also told to do 50 hours of community service, which led to his deal with the FDNY.

Davidson has written a lot about the death of his father, so this was an easy pick. Davidson’s dad was a firefighter in New York City. He died while helping people after the terrorist strikes on September 11, 2001. When asked for a statement, an FDNY spokesperson said that the department “would be happy to provide” a chance for community service to “the son of a 9/11 hero,” but did not confirm whether the plans were in motion.

Mike Cavalluzzi, Davidson’s lawyer, also said that Davidson’s community service requirement “is likely to be completed at” the New York Fire Department, but he didn’t say anything else. Davidson is 29 years old and still lives in New York, but because he is an actor, he goes to the L.A. area often for work.

In his movie, Davidson talked about the death of his father. The King of Staten Island in 2020 and the semi-autobiographical comedy Bupkis, which he made recently. The second one had a flashback episode in which Davidson, when he was 7, went to a family wedding just one week after his father died. This showed how Davidson used comedy as a way to deal with sadness and how he became interested in comedy in the first place.

The show as a whole gets mostly good reviews, and many critics point to this episode in particular as evidence that Davidson’s fans are especially interested in his family background. Since leaving Saturday Night Live last year, the comedian has had a few parts on TV and in movies. On his IMDb page, there are three finished projects that he is working on. Between now and then, you can watch The King of Staten Island and Bupkis on Peacock.
