Petersburg Area Art League (PAAL) will present Appomattox Regional Governor’s School’s (ARGS) annual showcase during Friday for the Arts! on May 9 in Old Towne. It celebrates visual arts students’ bold vision and extraordinary skill.

The exhibition ARGS Spring Arts Gala will open with a public reception from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m., and it will remain on view through June 7.

The exhibit with free admission features an exciting mix of 2D, 3D and multimedia works, including graphite drawings, photography, abstract compositions and mixed-media installations. Both senior and underclassmen students are represented, offering a glimpse into the future of the regional arts scene.

“Never underestimate the magnitude of new talent,” the exhibition’s theme boldly declares.

“Visitors will encounter deeply personal narratives, bold uses of space and texture, and thought-provoking perspectives that reflect the voices of a new generation of artists,” PAAL’s press release stated. “In the lead-up to opening night, students and faculty have been hands-on in the gallery, meticulously hanging and arranging their works—a process that reinforces ARGS’s commitment to artistic excellence and real-world creative experiences.”

The community is invited to celebrate the innovation and imagination of young artists who are shaping the future of the arts. PAAL is located at 7 E. Old Street in Petersburg. For more information, visit paalart.org or call 804-861-4611.
