PGA of America dials up T-Mobile as 5G wireless innovation partner


The Professional Golfers’ Association (PGA) of America has announced T-Mobile as its official 5G innovation partner.

Contract:

  • PGA of America to use a 5G hybrid network from T-Mobile’s 5G advanced network solutions at the organisation’s new headquarters in Frisco, Texas
  • Network aims to enhance fan experiences at the PGA Championship and the Women’s PGA Championship
  • PGA of America Coaching Center to also use 5G-connected technologies to enhance tools for coaches and players
  • New broadcasting and content innovation hub to be developed at the PGA of America’s home using 5G-enhanced innovations

Context:

Through this partnership, the PGA of America is looking to explore how wireless technology can democratise access to the sport for players, coaches and fans. It also said the collaboration would improve data capture, thus enhancing player performance analysis, as well as saving costs and time for the organisation.
