Photographer to discuss exhibit at Drummond Museum

DRUMMOND, Okla. — Drummond Museum will is hosting a photo exhibit, “Enduring Spirit” by Simone Mattea, through March 2, 2025, with presentations from the photographer on Saturday and Sunday.

Those presentations will be 2 p.m. both days. Drummond Museum is located at 402 Main Street.

Mattea attended school in Drummond. She is a visual artist working in the worlds of photography and film. She has always been drawn to the arts, believing that is an expression of humanity and a preservation of time, said Brenda Sherbourne, president of Drummond Historical Society.

Mattea began teaching herself photography as a teenager and earned a B.A. in film and television production in 2021. Her work seeks to open a window to the diversity of others’ lived experiences with an eye towards appreciation, culture and care, Sherbourne said.

“Despite having lived across the U.S., Oklahoma and abroad, Simone holds a special love for the small town of Drummond, Oklahoma, that fostered her passion for landscapes and the expanding power of imagery,” Sherbourne said.
