PHOTOS: LSU women’s basketball tips off 2023-24 season with 99-26 exhibition win over East Texas Baptist

LSU looked about as dominant as you would expect a defending champion, preseason No. 1 team to against a Division III opponent in its first exhibition of the 2023-24 season on Thursday night.

The Tigers routed East Texas Baptist, winning 99-26 as coach Kim Mulkey sets off on the quest to win career title No. 5.

LSU featured its newcomers to start the game, rolling with a starting lineup that featured transfers Hailey Van Lith and Aneesah Morrow as well as a trio of true freshmen.

It was ultimately the returning stars that made the biggest impact, however. Flau’Jae Johnson led the team with 18 points, followed closely by Angel Reese with 17. Reese also had seven rebounds.

Sa’Myah Smith had the only double-double for the Tigers, totaling 16 points and 12 boards.

LSU will be back in action for another exhibition next Thursday night against Loyola (New Orleans) before heading to Las Vegas to begin the season against Colorado on Nov. 6.

Here are the photos from Thursday night’s win exhibition.
