Peer-to-peer rental marketplace Pickle opened on Saturday its first-ever physical store in the heart of Manhattan’s West Village.

Customers can rent designer clothing and accessories from a community of New York City’s most stylish individuals in the new business.

A carefully chosen and ever-changing assortment of fashionable designs, labels, and accessories drawn from lustful closets throughout New York City will be available at Pickle’s store. Expert stylists will be available in-store and online to help customers choose the ideal rental for any occasion. Additionally, the store will serve as a centre for content generation.

Since its founding in 2021, Pickle has amassed a sizable following on the internet, numbering in the tens of thousands. Users on TikTok who post ‘get ready with me’ videos and personal wardrobe tours have accumulated millions of views for the hashtag #ShopOnPickle. Through listings alone, the portal has allowed the circulation of over 50,000 things, with customers renting items from well-known figures such as Lauren Wolfe and Kit Keenan.

The aim to make fashion rental more community-focused, valuable, and easy led to the decision to move from a web platform to a physical store.

“As a brand, we’re on a mission to make high-quality items more accessible, circular, and affordable in every community through convenient peer-to-peer rentals,” said Brian McMahon, CEO and co-founder of Pickle.

The store opening follows an US $ 8 million seed fund investment, which was co-led by FirstMark Capital and Craft Ventures.
