Player Spotlight: Maelie Monfils


TALLAHASSEE – Freshman Maelie Monfils enters her first season with Florida State and has made an immediate impact for Seminoles. 

At the ITA Southeast Regional, Monfils and senior Ellie Schoppe took down the No. 1 seed Mai Nirundorn and Guilermina Grant of Georgia 8-1 to advance to the quarterfinals of the doubles draw. The pair won 8-6 in their opening round against Petja Drame and Katerina Manelikova of FAU.
 
In Monfils’ first tournament with the Seminoles, she teamed with Laura Putz to win doubles at the Bedford Cup. The pair won a 6-2 win over Grace Schumacher and Ireland Simme of the University of South Florida, 6-4 over Carla Galmiche and Amber McGinnis of FAU and 6-4 over Anslee Long and Annabelle Davis of UNF to secure the Bedford Cup. 

The Paris, France, native graduated from IMG Academy in 2023, grew up practicing in Guadeloupe and spent three years practicing at the Federation in France. Monfils is a Business Management major and her dream job is to be a luxury event manager. 

Monfils is already showcasing an ability to contribute to Florida State’s success this season.
