Two British labels — Pleasing and JW Anderson — with star frontmen have got together for what’s likely to be one of the hottest collabs of the year.
The harry Styles-founded brand and the label named after multi-award winner Jonathan Anderson have just unveiled a collaboration “born out of a fashion-fuelled friendship”.
We’re told that “this partnership holds personal significance for both founders, who have been longtime collaborators and supporters of one another. Together, with their respective teams, they designed the collection while keeping their communities at the forefront, creating something joyful and exciting to share with the world”.
The capsule includes apparel, accessories, and nail polishes, “inspired by the playful and innovative aesthetic that first brought the two together. In pursuit of perfect alignment, the collection is anchored by iconic pieces from both brands, reimagined with representations of the other’s point of view”.
Signature JW Anderson pieces “now feature a uniquely Pleasing twist”. They include a Bumper Bag in an exclusive colourway and featuring both logos across the crossbody strap, “glittering” keyrings in purple and yellow, chrome balloon keyrings made from recycled-silicone in a vibrant green colourway, and the Bunch of Balloons Knit Cardigan.
This latter piece “is a subtle nod to the iconic JW Anderson Patchwork Cardigan worn by Harry Styles, now displayed at the V&A and is crafted using similar techniques”. It comes emblazoned with a bouquet of technicolor balloons, and “represents the merging of the founders’ aesthetics — embodying the playful nature of both brands”.
The signature Pleasing sweatshirt is also adorned with a shiny mylar balloon dotting the ‘I’.
Pleasing’s roots are in nail polish and for this collab they include a special edition four-piece polish set and a fifth individual polish (all of them metallic-foiled) — allowing JW Anderson to “dip [its] toes into the world of beauty for the first time”.
Pleasing creative director Harry Lambert said the J W Anderson link-up “is one of our most special collaborations to date. JW Anderson is a brand we feel so aligned with in terms of point of view, creativity and energy — and has been a brand we’ve wanted to collaborate with for some time”.
The collection launched on Wednesday on Pleasing.com and Jwanderson.com and will be followed by in-store debuts at select JW Anderson stores and at Pleasing’s New York and LA pop-ups later this week, with prices ranging from £20/$20 to £850/$990.
