Mangaluru: In an effort towards environmental conservation and community involvement, the Students for Development organisation (SFD), Mangaluru division organised a ‘Plog and Walk’ drive to Karinjeshwara Temple in Bantwal taluk on Saturday. The event witnessed the participation of 32 student volunteers from various colleges, who gathered at the temple in the morning to embark on this meaningful initiative.
The day commenced with a special puja dedicated to Lord Shiva.The drive commenced, focusing on cleaning the pathway from the top of the Shiva temple down. The student volunteers actively collected plastic waste and various other debris, ensuring the temple surroundings were restored to their pristine condition.
The drive not only aimed at physical cleanliness but also included an awareness campaign urging the public not to litter and to be mindful of the local fauna, particularly the monkeys in the area. The volunteers emphasized the importance of responsible waste disposal to prevent harm to both the environment and the animals. Chandrashekhar Shetty and Praveen Poojary, representing the temple administration, participated in the drive.
