Police: 14-year-old takes parents’ car, crashes into power pole in Georgetown


GEORGETOWN, S.C. (WMBF) – A 14-year-old was behind the wheel of a car that crashed into a power pole Thursday morning in Georgetown, according to police.

Deputy Chief Nelson Brown with the Georgetown Police Department said the teen was driving a Ford Expedition that belonged to his parents. Police said the teen drove off the road at a high rate of speed and crashed into a utility pole in the area of U.S. 17 and Dock Street.

The driver and a passenger were both taken to a hospital.
