Police give more details about deaths of high school students found dead in car


TULSA, Okla. — The Tulsa Police Department (TPD) has released more information about the deaths of two Tulsa high school students found dead in a car on Oct. 22.

A preliminary report from the Medical Examiner says the two died from accidental carbon monoxide poisoning, according to TPD.

TPD said around 2:22 p.m. on Oct. 22, they received a Missing Persons Report for 17-year-old Kadence Brown, who had not been seen or heard from in more than 24 hours.

Two hours later, they received a Missing Persons Report for 17-year-old Jacob Lara, who was last seen around the same time, TPD said.

TPD said through investigation, they determined the teens were together and were believed to have been last seen near 21st and Yale.

At 5:22 p.m., police responded to the parking lot of the Dunkin’ Donuts near 21st and Yale, TPD said.

According to police, friends of the teens saw a car belonging to one of the teens in the parking lot.

Brown and Lara were found dead in the car, TPD said.

According to police, a employee said the car had been parked there since around 7:00 p.m. on Oct. 21.

TPD said authorities searched the vehicle today and found while it was idling, lethal amounts of carbon monoxide filled the passenger compartment.
