Police respond to accidental shooting at Palestine restaurant

A man dining in a Palestine restaurant accidentally shot himself Tuesday afternoon.

According to Chief Mark Harcrow, at 3:23 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 21 the officers responded to the report of an accidental shooting at the Pint and Barrel restaurant. Harcrow said at the restaurant, officers found a 25-year-old male with an apparent gunshot wound to the left thigh. They applied a tourniquet to the subject’s leg to control bleeding.

Harcrow said the man was sitting outside of the building while carrying a handgun in his pocket when he accidentally discharged the handgun and was struck in the leg. Harcrow said the subject was transported by Palestine Regional Medical Center EMS to the hospital and later flown to a Tyler hospital.

The man’s condition was unknown at the time of this post
