KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – A $25,000 reward has been made available for information that leads to the arrest of a suspect in Kansas City’s latest fatal shooting.
The Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department says that around 6:30 p.m., on Friday, May 24, officers in the area of 31st and Van Brunt Blvd. heard multiple gunshots to the north.
Officers indicated that witnesses in the area directed them to a pickup at a nearby carwash. Inside, they found an adult male with an apparent gunshot wound and began to take life-saving measures as EMS arrived and took over.
However, first responders said they were unable to save the victim. A preliminary investigation found the shooting happened at an intersection just of the exit ramp from eastbound I-70 to Van Brunt.
Police said the victim was able to drive the short distance before the truck rolled into the car wash.
As of 8:30 p.m., KCPD said it has no information about the suspect but continues to investigate.
“Detectives are hoping for any witness accounts or maybe any business surveillance footage or anything like that,” said Sgt. Jacob Becchina. “That’s the stuff that they go to early on in an investigation like this to give them any idea of what direction to go.”
Anyone with information has been asked to report it to the KC Tips Hotline at 816-474-TIPS. A $25,000 reward is available.
