Two “pop-up” artists’ markets in November and December will enable Ripon shoppers to view and purchase the works of local fine artists. The artwork will be on Saturday, Nov. 9 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday Dec. 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Ripon Commonwealth Press office at 303 Watson St. The public may shop or just browse artwork.
The markets will include ceramics, paintings, photography, weaving, wood turnings and other original works of art.
Saturday is the Ripon Main Street’s annual Christmas in the Village event and the artists’ market Dec. 7 is part of Ripon’s Dickens of a Christmas.
The Mid-Wisconsin Visual Artist Connection (MWVAC), a local visual arts club, regularly holds exhibitions, art markets, and artist workshops.
Kate Salas, a local ceramic artist and a member of MWVAC, is the coordinator for the upcoming pop-up markets.
“It’s exciting to showcase the work of so many talented local artists,” Salas said. “And a handmade piece by a local artist always makes a unique and special gift.”
In communities that lack permanent commercial art galleries, temporary pop-up artists’ markets allow local businesses and organizations to highlight the work of local artists and artisans and give the creators of unique visual arts a place to exhibit and sell their works.
