No. 14 Moreau Catholic 56, Vanden-Fairfield 52
Kevin Chapman was named player of the game after he scored 18 points and handed out eight assists while leading Moreau to a season-opening victory over Vanden at the O’Dowd Thanksgiving Showcase. The Mariners also got 12 points from Tyler Bailey and 10 from Spencer Shonnard.
No. 11 Bishop O’Dowd 72, No. 8 Oakland 53
O’Dowd started its season with an upset victory over crosstown rival and defending Division III state champions Oakland at O’Dowd’s own Thanksgiving Showcase event. The Dragons backcourt led the way, with senior Tobias Allen scoring 14 points and junior Joshua Green putting in a team-high 16.
No. 18 Oakland Tech 68, Grant-Sacramento 60
ArDarius Grayson scored 23 points and grabbed five rebounds in Oakland Tech’s victory over the Sacramento-area team at the Bishop O’Dowd Thanksgiving Showcase. Forward Ahmed Gulaid scored 15 points and had 10 rebounds, and Jerrell Warren had nine points. Xan Myer-Plettner, a 6-7 center, had seven points, four rebounds and three assists for the Bulldogs.
Sheldon-Sacramento 56, Dougherty Valley 46
Dougherty Valley faded down the stretch at the Bishop O’Dowd Showcase, surrendering a 23-16 halftime lead. Andrew Degirolamo led Dougherty with 13 points and also had four rebounds, and Jayden Doty scored 11 points. Sophomore Ankit Anand scored six points for Dougherty Valley.

No. 4 Bishop O’Dowd 56, No. 17 Heritage 36
Devin Cosgriff scored a team-high 15 points in Bishop O’Dowd’s season-opening rout over ranked Heritage. A massive third quarter, in which the Dragons scored 22 points, helped the Oakland school pull away from the defending Bay Valley champs. Senior Nyah Greenwood scored 11 points and Savannah Jones had nine for O’Dowd. Freshman Ze’Ni Patterson led Heritage with 10 points.
Archbishop Riordan 61, Redwood-Larkspur 43
Riordan trailed by eight midway through the third quarter, but ended the game by scoring 23 of the game’s last 30 points to win its season-opener. Senior guard Ashanti Dias scored a game-high 23 points, and Teagan Radcliffe and Tailiyah Nasol each scored 10 points for Riordan. Post player Zion McGuire had seven points and four blocks for the Crusaders. Redwood guard Anaru Todd paced her team with 17 points.
Cornerstone Christian 48, Liberty 45
Zakara Cooper started her season with a sensational 28-point outing against Liberty. Teammate Mecca Alexander, who has an offer from San Jose State, scored 11 points and had four steals. Six-foot-4 post Lea Salinas Beamen scored nine points for Liberty, and forward Madison Perea scored a team-high 11 for the Lions.
