FORT WORTH – For the ninth consecutive season, college tennis’ marquee regular season indoor event is coming to TCU.
The fifth-ranked Horned Frogs (1-0) are set to host ITA Kickoff Weekend from Saturday-Sunday at the indoor Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
TCU is one of 15 host sites and one of 60 men’s programs competing in the nationwide tournament. Regional winners advance to the ITA National Indoor Championships, held from Feb. 16-19 in New York City.
The TCU regional includes Tulsa, Princeton and Rice. Tulsa is the No. 2 seed while Princeton and Rice are respectively seeded third and fourth.
The Horned Frogs face Rice at 2 p.m. on Saturday following a dual between Tulsa and Princeton at 11 a.m. The two-day affair concludes on Sunday, beginning with an 11 a.m. match between the losing teams. The winners play at 2 p.m. for a ticket to the Big Apple.
TCU is the two-time defending ITA Indoor National Champion. The Horned Frogs downed Gonzaga and Texas Tech at the 2023 edition of ITA Kickoff Weekend on their way to capturing the program’s second indoor national title.
The Horned Frogs have earned five consecutive berths to the ITA Indoor National Championships and 20 all-time.
All matches are open to the public. Free pizza will be available while supplies last at both TCU matches.

- Nearly four years have passed since TCU dropped out of the top-10 of the ITA team rankings. In fact, the Horned Frogs are enjoying the longest consecutive streak of weeks ranked in the top-10 of any Division 1 program. TCU has boasted a top-10 ITA team ranking for 199 weeks.
- TCU is the only program in the country that has finished in the top-10 of the final ITA team rankings for nine consecutive seasons.
- TCU returns seven letter winners from a 2023 squad that captured the Indoor National Championship, won the Big 12 tournament, earned the No. 2 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament and reached the NCAA semifinals.
- Fifth-year senior Jake Fearnley, a two-time All-American, enters the season after sweeping the M25 Esch/Alzette Championships alongside fellow Frog and All-American Alex Rybakov.
- Junior Pedro Vives and sophomore Sebastian Gorzny earned five wins against nationally ranked opponents as a doubles pairing in the fall of 2023. The duo won the ITA Texas Regional Doubles Championship.
- Junior Lui Maxted and Freshman Duncan Chan were ITA National Fall Championships doubles quarterfinalists.
- Sophomore Jack Pinnington had a successful fall, tallying a singles record of 12-3. He notched seven wins over nationally ranked foes. Pinnington was the ITA National Fall Championships singles finalist and an ITA Texas Regional singles quarterfinalist.
- Pinnington became the third player in program history to compete for a National Fall Singles Championship, joining David Pate and Paul Robinson.
Last Time Out
TCU pitched a 7-0 shutout of Abilene Christian on Wednesday in it’s season-opener. The Horned Frogs did not drop a set in the match. Nine of TCU’s 10 players picked up at least one individual victory.
