Orange Coast College is set to host its annual Spring Dance Celebration on Friday, April 25, and Saturday, April 26, at 7:30 p.m. with a free school outreach show at 11 a.m. on the 25. The event will take place at the Robert B. Moore Theatre, showcasing the creative talents of OCC’s dance students and faculty.
Students will present original choreography in various dance styles, reflecting their unique artistic visions – Contemporary, Hip Hop, Tap and Asian Fusion to name a few. The event provides a platform for emerging choreographers to bring their ideas to life in a professionally produced main-stage production.
“Each semester we have one main stage production in the Robert B. Moore Theatre,” OCC chair of the dance department Rachel Berman said. “The Spring Celebration focuses on our students’ choreography.”
In addition to student performances, Berman said the event will feature contributions from OCC dance faculty and guest artists.
Berman believes that the most rewarding part of the semester is the stage productions.
“We have an amazing dance program and a very robust pilates program,” Berman said. “But the triumph of each semester is the culmination of it all when it comes together. All the sweat and hard work in our stage productions.”
The Spring Dance Celebration is not just a showcase of talent but a testament to the dedication and passion of OCC’s dance community. It highlights the collaborative efforts of students, faculty, and guest artists, all working together to create an unforgettable experience for the audience. This event underscores the importance of the arts in education and the transformative power of dance.
