Prince George’s County breaks ground on new health center

Prince George’s County officials broke ground Monday on a new health center.

The facility, which will be located at 9001 Edmonston Road in Greenbelt, will replace Cheverly Health Center.

The site will play a pivotal role in providing vaccinations and key public health services, including behavioral health, dental, disease investigation and control, serve as a reproductive health resource center (STI/STD), and more, according to county leaders.

The goal is to reduce patient wait times, modernize medical equipment and improve staffing levels in relation to the number of patients through the larger facility, officials said.

This comes after county Executive Angels Alsobrooks alongside the county health department and other leaders said they are committed to expanding healthcare access.
