Production of Google Glass Comes to an End

According to the company’s website, Google will stop selling Glass Enterprise smart glasses. The decision signifies the end of the most well-known line of smart glasses, which debuted in 2013 for a staggering $1,500.

A Google message stated, “Thank you for over a decade of innovation and partnership.” “As of March 15, 2023, we will no longer sell Glass Enterprise Edition. We will continue supporting Glass Enterprise Edition until September 15, 2023.”

Google marketed augmented reality (AR) glasses as a revolutionary advancement in consumer technology, but they never acquired widespread adoption. The IT giant had greater success selling it to businesses who intended to utilize it for more specialized reasons.

This pivot occurred in 2017, and in 2019 a revised version of Glass Enterprise was released.

Current units will remain operational until September 15th. Google will then stop providing software upgrades.

Uncertain is what this signifies for the future of AR. Google stated that it is still interested in the notion, despite the absence of any clear plans.
