SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Hail damage on your car can be expensive, so it’s important to take put your car in the garage before storms hit. But when that isn’t an option, there are a few other options.
“If it’s not business hours, like a bank underpass or a parking garage or something like that, there’s there’s a few ways to get out of it,” Marv’s Body Shop partner Evan Kint said.
Evan Kint, with Marv’s Body Shop, says you should avoid parking under trees. While options are limited, he says hail damage can be fixed.
“When it does happen, it’s, you know, a lot of vehicles all at once that have dents on them. And we typically repair those pretty efficiently and quickly with painless dent repair,” Kint said.
Car dealerships are under the same pressure to keep their vehicles safe from storm damage. At Autoland, when storms damage cars, the dealership turns to a company that does paintless dent repair.
“We have a pretty good sized shop in the back and we prioritize with customer cars first. And if we can get all the customer cars in, then we start looking at some of the high end vehicles on the lot and try to prioritize that way,” Autoland Service Advisor Rod Pattison said.
Storm damage can decrease the value of your car depending on the severity and availability of parts. It’s a good idea to check with your insurance company.
“You’re kind of at the mercy of the weather and you just hope and pray and keep your fingers crossed that not a lot of damage happens,” Pattison said.
