CENTREVILLE — Queen Anne’s County High School Visual Arts Teen of the Week Sofia Vasquez did not start out her high school career planning on pursuing art. At the start of her sophomore year, she was considering being a teacher or architect, even considering becoming a mathematician. Now, in her junior year, she’s found a love for drawing and painting under the tutelage of art teacher Stephanie Zeiler.

“I didn’t realize I wanted to be an artist until last year when I took Ms. Zeiler’s Fundamentals of Art class,” says Sofia. “It was here I put in all my efforts to see if I wanted to keep art as a hobby—as something I just really loved, or if it was something I wanted to do in the future.”
