QUAKERTOWN, Pa. – A Bucks County eatery is ending operations, but its fish po boys, jerk chicken alfredo and other tasty offerings will still be available at a venue near you.
Soul D’Lysh, offering freshly prepared “Southern comfort food with a twist,” will hold its last day of business on Nov. 19 at 500 W. Broad St. in downtown Quakertown, according to a recent post on the business’ Facebook page.
Following the restaurant’s closure, the business will transition to a primarily mobile operation, serving customers via a food truck in Philadelphia and surrounding counties.

The business will transition to a primarily mobile operation, serving customers via a food truck in Philadelphia and surrounding counties.
“We had a blast here the last 2 years and we gained more customers, friends, family and supporters than we could have asked for!” the online announcement reads. “November is officially our last month here in Quakertown but won’t be the last that you’ll see of us!”
Owner Allysha Holmes started Soul D’Lysh as a mobile business in 2017, a couple of years after a devastating accident forced her to step away from her nursing career.
The 2015 incident, involving a van that struck Holmes while she was walking on a Philadelphia sidewalk, resulted in serious injuries that made it difficult for her to perform several physical tasks.
During the onset of her recovery, she was inspired by her husband to continue doing things that she enjoyed. So, she started cooking and selling platters of food to family and friends.
The dishes’ popularity skyrocketed, and she eventually bought a food truck to expand operations.
The truck proved a huge hit with Temple University students in north Philadelphia from 2017 to 2020, but the pandemic disrupted operations when schools across the country shifted to virtual learning to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.
As students stayed home, Soul D’Lysh’s customer base dwindled, leading Holmes to implement a new business model involving a brick-and-mortar eatery.
“As we welcome November, we also will beginning our official transition back to Philly Philly,” Wednesday’s announcement reads.
“…We look forward to partnering with local Breweries and local townships in Bucks, Montco and Delco for events festivals and pop ups with our food truck. This wasn’t an easy pill to swallow, but with our lease ending December and the building being sold and in current negotiation with a ‘Serious’ buyer who will be moving their business here, we didn’t have an option.”
Soul D’Lysh serves up a variety of made-from-scratch dishes, including loaded fries, jumbo wingettes, fried chicken boxes with cornbread, sandwiches such as chicken cheesesteaks and fish po boys, and meals such as smothered cajun chicken wings, 8-ounce seared salmon and fried whiting.
