Queen Rania of Jordan saw bias in how the world reacted to two terrible events that happened this month.
She posted a widely shared picture of a migrant ship that sank off the coast of Greece with hundreds of people on board and the Titanic submarine that went missing on Sunday with five people on board on her Instagram stories.
“Two tragic situations, two very different global responses,” the statement on the picture that Queen Rania shared said. “Every human life is worth saving.”
At the same time, a huge search and rescue operation for the missing submersible near the Titanic wreck was in a critical stage. The five people on board were due to run out of oxygen on Thursday.
Coast Guard officials said they were still “hopeful,” especially since more resources and experts were joining the search and sonar was picking up noises that couldn’t be figured out. However, it seemed harder and harder to find and save the crew.
