During the premiere of The Hunger Games: Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, Rachel Zegler made a subtle homage to Jennifer Lawrence.
Leading lady Zegler, 22, walked the red carpet in a flaming gown with an undeniable homage to the original heroine played by Lawrence, 33, as the Hunger Games returned to the big screen after nearly a decade in Berlin on Sunday.
In the prequel, Zegler, who plays District 12 tribute and initial Hunger Games victor Lucy Gray Baird, wore a stunning black Alexander McQueen strapless dress with a blazing red skirt from the designer’s fall/winter 2022 collection.
The flame-like scallops on the neckline and finishes, as well as red flames flying up the mermaid-trim skirt, were a clear nod to Katniss Everdeen’s famed title, which she got after donning a gown that would catch fire as she whirled on stage.
The West Side Story star paired her fiery gown with a bold red lip and wore her hair in lovely, free waves. She accessorized her red carpet ensemble with gold earrings and left her neck bare to highlight the flame-like neckline.
Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes will be released in theaters globally on November 17, 2023.
