Racist Note Found On Guilford Educator’s Car: Report

GUILFORD, CT — Guilford High School is investigating a racist notethat was found on a Black educator’s car windshield on Dec. 7, according to the New Haven Register.

The note was found by Rydell Harrison, the equity liaison for Guilford schools, the Register reported, noting that Harrison mistakenly parked his car in the student lot for a meeting related to the Open Choice program last Thursday.

The note said Harrison parked in the wrong spot and mentioned a racial slur, according to the Register.

Superintendent of Guilford Public Schools Paul Freeman told the Register that early indications have led officials to believe a student left the note, but cameras in the parking lot will be looked at as part of an investigation.

Freeman said the district is “embarrassed,” “concerned,” “deflated” and “disappointed,” by the incident, the Register said, citing a letter from Freeman to the school community.

Patch has reached out to Guilford Public Schools for more information.
