Rockwall Art League’s 24th annual Juried Fine Art Show and Sale drew more than 120 artists exhibiting 160 pieces of art at Cavender Nissan over the weekend.
The event is one of RAL’s signature showcases of the year – celebrating contemporary art in a variety of mediums. Originally a regional show, the exhibition has grown to feature artists from across Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana – highlighting the expanding reach and reputation of the Rockwall Art League.
The show offered an opportunity for art enthusiasts to experience a diverse range of artistic expressions with mediums including original oil, acrylic, and watercolor paintings, photography, drawing, mosaic art and sculpture.
Taking home top honors as Best of Show was Joseph LaBarre’s “Setting Out.” The Mayor’s Award went to Conrad Spann for “More Avian Than Avian” and the People’s Choice winner was Ashley Herrera for “Trinity,” which also claimed the Cavender Award.
Other winners were Benjamin Lester for “Handshake,” oils; Colin Bachman for “Elevator Sunset,” photography; Michelle Braden for “Spring Colors,” mixed media; Anna Horbatiuk for “Untitled,” drawing; Curtis Frederick for “Tree of Life,” sculpture; Trish Poupard for “Lush,” watercolor; Kara English for “Dangerous Bayou,” acrylic; and Michelle Swanson for “Portrait of Roberta,” mosaic.
