Reaching One Classroom At A Time; Mr Zogg and automotive technology

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) – This week’s One Classroom At A Time brings us back to North Platte High School to surprise Mr. Johnny Zogg.

Zogg owned his own body shop as well as worked on Union Pacific locomotives in North Platte before becoming a teacher at North Platte High School and was thrilled for the surprise.

“When you walked in with the check I was very surprised and I know I reached out to the Reach Foundation for a grant for stuff for our automotive shop and we talked a lot about things, wants and needs. I am happy that we were able to get some funding that we can use to bring up to industry standards,” Zogg said.

Zogg says that it’s very important that schools have classes like this because college is sometimes not always a student’s number one path after high school.

“ Not everyone goes to a four-year school. There is a lot of percentages that go to a two-year tech school or one-year tech school, whether it be automotive, diesel, HVAC, electrical, or welding any of those and CTE pathways are really important for students that might not excel in academics of school but would really excel in our programs here so the hands-on, dirty jobs,” Zogg said.
