A newly released study looking at the consumption patterns and nutrition of thousands of Americans has shown that those who consume pork had an increased amount of vital nutrients in their bodies. The study also revealed that consuming pork was also shown to help increase your intake of other food groups, such as vegetables. Kristen Hicks-Roof, director of nutrition research at the National Pork Board, explains further on why that makes this protein a carrier food.

With pork being such a versatile protein, it can be prepared in so many different ways. Hicks-Roof says that makes it easier for those picky eaters to find a version on the protein that they like, while also receiving all of the nutrients that it provides.
