Applications are now open for visual, music, and performing artists to be a part of the 49th Annual Red River Revel Arts Festival in Shreveport.
The festival will operate over two weekends: Sept. 25-28 and Oct. 2-5.
Since 1976, the annual Red River Revel Arts Festival has offered a vast experience through art activities, entertainment, food, and cultural traditions.
The event held at Festival Plaza in Shreveport attracts approximately 60,000 people each year and features visual artists, four performances stages, food booths and a children’s arts education area.
“Visual and performing arts are the hallmarks of the Red River Revel and set the festival apart as an arts experience of high excellence,” said Logan Lewis, Executive Director of the Red River Revel.
“The goal we set out to achieve at the beginning of each year is to put together visual and performing art rosters that are dynamic and extraordinary; showcasing the highest quality of artists originating locally, regionally, and from around the world.”

Visual artists
The nine-day Red River Revel Arts Festival at Festival Plaza in Shreveport, Louisiana, began Saturday, Sept. 30, 2023.
All artworks must be original, designed, and handcrafted by the exhibiting artist. No commercial productions will be allowed. Artists may only exhibit and sell work in the media category for which they were accepted. Categories include ceramics/pottery, computer and generated art, drawing, fiber, glass, graphics & printmaking, jewelry, metal, mixed media, oil and acrylics, photography, sculpture, watercolor, and wood.
All submissions are evaluated by a blind jury process. The deadline to apply is May 2 and there is a non-refundable application fee of $40. Applications are facilitated by Zapplication and available through the Revel website.
The Red River Revel will send acceptance notifications on May 23. Juried artists must complete the contract and pay the artist booth deposit by July 1.
Performing arts

Performing arts applications are open to dance, film, poetry and spoken word, drama and theatre, magic and puppetry, opera, vocal ensemble, and musical theatre. The deadline to apply is July 1 and the application is free.

Music applications for live bands and solo artists will be considered by committee and selected based on artistic quality, educational and entertainment value, and frequency with which the submitter has recently performed at the Red River Revel. The deadline to apply is May 2 and there is a non-refundable application fee of $10.
