Fitzsimmons Dog Parks Closing Dec. 4
WHEELING — The Fitzsimmons Family dog parks at the Tunnel Green Recreation Complex in East Wheeling and at Garden Park in Warwood will close for the season on Monday, Dec. 4 and will re-open in the spring. The Fitzsimmons Family Dog Park at Wheeling Park will remain open through the winter providing weather conditions do not adversely impact the condition of the grass within the dog park.
Red Kettle Mascot Challenge Is Saturday
WHEELING — Local mascots from around The Ohio Valley will participate in the 2023 Red Kettle Mascot Challenge for The Salvation Army on Saturday and ring bells at locations around Ohio County.
The current 2023 Red Kettle Mascot Challenge lineup includes mascots from the Wheeling Nailers, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Cabela’s at The Highlands; Bordas & Bordas, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Mt. DeChantal Kroger; Wheeling University, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at Highland’s Walmart grocery entrance; the Salvation Army, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at Highland’s Walmart main entrance; West Liberty University, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Highland’s Walmart main entrance.
Those interested in volunteering to ring bells this Christmas season should register to do so at registertoring.com, or call (304) 233-4400 to sign up.
The Salvation Army of Ohio, Marshall, Wetzel and Tyler counties has set a goal for $100,000 for this Christmas season.
Santa, Grinch Coming To Christmas House
Santa Claus and the Grinch will visit “The Christmas House,” located at 44 Kentucky Street on the North side of Wheeling Island, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday. Families are invited to meet and take photos with the characters. Christmas music, hot cocoa and candy canes will be provided on top of plenty of Christmas lights to enjoy.
Hospital Board
Meeting Scheduled
WHEELING — The Board of Directors of WVU Medicine Wheeling Hospital is scheduled to meet at 4 p.m. Dec. 6 in the Fort Henry Room, Wilson Lodge, Oglebay, for the purpose of discussing general hospital business and any other business that may come before the board, according to a legal notice.
Evening Of Music
Set For Sunday
STEUBENVILLE — Finley Church, located at 958 Lincoln Ave., will hold its annual Evening of Music event at 6 p.m. Sunday.
The evening will feature several Christmas selections with piano and organ duets, including the Redeemed Vocal Ensemble and handbells.
The church invites everyone to make this evening a part of their Christmas season.
