Renault recently engaged in discussions at the 18th edition of the Beijing Auto Show aka Auto China 2024 signaling potential collaboration with China’s Li Auto and Xiaomi in electric and intelligent vehicle technologies, as stated in a recent report by a news agency.

The report outlines that Francois Provost, Renault’s procurement and partnerships chief, highlighted CEO Luca de Meo’s discussions with industry leaders, including Li Auto and Xiaomi. These talks, alongside existing partnerships with Geely and Dongfeng, indicate Renault’s focus on technological advancements.

The report also cited a post shared by Francois Provost on LinkedIn which stated, “Our CEO Luca de Meo engaged in pivotal conversations with industry leaders, including our partners Geely and Dongfeng, key suppliers but also the new players like the founders of Li Auto and Xiaomi Technology”.

According to the report this discussion comes amidst tensions between Europe and China, with the European Commission investigating Chinese exports, including concerns about unfair subsidies boosting Chinese EV sales in Europe. However, China has countered these claims, alleging European protectionism.

Renault acknowledges the need for Europe to balance market interests and learn from China’s automotive developments. Leveraging partnerships with Geely and exploring collaborations with Xiaomi reflect Renault’s proactive approach. Renault’s existing collaborations, such as those with Geely and tech companies like Google and Qualcomm, demonstrate its commitment to innovation and fostering synergies across various domains. As Renault continues exploring avenues for technological advancement, potential collaboration with Li Auto and Xiaomi could shape the future of intelligent mobility across the globe.
