Report: Man pinned victim between vehicles, attempted to hit woman with car


CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) – A man was arrested after he hit another man with a car and attempted to hit a woman, authorities said.

Aaron Thomas Herbert, 36, was charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature, failure to give information and render aid and second-degree domestic violence, jail records show.

The North Charleston Police Department responded to 7400 Rivers Avenue around 5:15 p.m. Friday for an auto versus pedestrian collision.

The woman said she and the other victim were sitting in their vehicle when Herbert pulled across from them. When the other man stepped out of the vehicle to confront Herbert he was pinned between Herbert’s car and the victim’s vehicle, a report states.

When the woman got out to check on the victim, Herbert attempted to hit her as well, the report states.

The injured man had a full fracture of his ankle and required multiple surgeries to heal, the police report states.

Officers from an assisting agency located Herbert’s car and matched the damage from the incident to the damage to the vehicle. A piece of human flesh was located on the grill of the car, officers said.

Herbert was being held in the Charleston County Detention Center on a bond of more than $250,000.
