Report: Michigan staffer arrested for drunk driving, crashing his car

Just one month after new defensive line coach Greg Scruggs resigned following an OWI arrest, recruiting staff member and former Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson was arrested for OWI. This was first reported by Angelique Chengelis of The Detroit News and confirmed by Maize n Brew.

This happened early Monday morning around 3 a.m. Robinson reportedly crashed his car at the intersection of E. Eisenhower Parkway and S. State Street in Ann Arbor, according to police. Charges are currently pending a toxicology report.

No other information was immediately available.

This is not Robinson’s first run-in with the police. Back in 2016 when he was a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars, Robinson fell asleep behind the wheel and drove his car over a sidewalk and into a retention pond. He was not under the influence, so he was not arrested for this incident. Robinson, nor the passenger in his car, were injured.

After the Scruggs incident last month — last month! — Robinson pulling this act is completely ridiculous and unacceptable. Someone, Robinson included, could have been severely injured or killed. Michigan legend or not, head coach Sherrone Moore should take swift action here.

There has been no word yet from the Michigan football program confirming this news. Maize n Brew has also submitted a FOIA request for the police report. We will update this article in the near future.
