Report: Santa Fe’s mobile health office needs focus

A specialized team in the Santa Fe Fire Department has taken to city streets for years to expand preventive health care among some of the community’s most vulnerable people.

The Mobile Integrated Health Office, established in 2016, has been lauded as a progressive shift in the city’s emergency response system, providing care that keeps some of the most frequent 911 callers with chronic conditions out of ambulances and hospital emergency rooms — and lowering costs in the process.

But the program could face changes to address what some city officials describe as growing pains.
