The Disneyland Resort just opened a new hotel, so of course that comes with the grand opening of a new restaurant!
I visited the new Pixar Place Hotel to check out the NEW Great Maple Modern American Eatery, and “WOW”, do I have some thoughts! I went in with certain expectations and left LOVING a surprising dish!
Great Maple’s menu features some really tasty entrees as well as all-day brunch and specialty donuts — so it was kind of a surprise that I left the restaurant OBSESSING over a vegetable-based appetizer!
I tried some flavorful savory eats, classic cocktails with a twist, and a cold brew with a bear-ish twist, but I couldn’t stop thinking about the Charred Cauliflower Hummus appetizer!
This hummus is made with chickpeas and roasted cauliflower and served alongside warm flatbread and market vegetables. As a huge fan of cauliflower and hummus, I HAD to try this and I’m happy to say it lived up to my expectations!
The quality and presentation were absolutely stunning. The appetizer is wonderfully displayed and balances the muted colors of the hummus and flatbread with vibrant veggies and hummus herbs.
The hummus itself had some really fantastic flavors and it definitely tasted like a more authentic hummus than you’ll get at other American restaurant chains. It was super aromatic, had an amazing mix of herbs and garlic on top, and had the perfect amount of oil that gave it a near-buttery texture.
The blend of flavors removed the opportunity for the cauliflower to overwhelm — so if you’re on the fence about cauliflower you should still give this a try!
The flatbread was warm and soft while the vegetables are yet another tasty snack to dip into the hummus. This healthy-tasting appetizer really does stand out among a menu with some heavier options. If you’re looking for a simple, yet authentic and aromatic Mediterranean starter, I recommend checking out the Charred Cauliflower Hummus during your next visit to Great Maple!
